Transform rigs to reefs to revitalizing marine ecosystem and create memorable engagement
Coral reefs are facing several threats, such as climate change, pollution, and overfishing, coral reefs, as a crucial ecosystem, can be saved by repurposing decommissioned oil rigs, which already have a mature marine ecosystem on their jackets. Our proposed solution involves revitalizing the marine ecosystem by creating expansible habitats by building 3D-printed modular artificial reefs, establishing a research facility on the platform to monitor them closely, utilizing underwater photography in awareness campaigns to reveal this ecosystem, and providing an accessible digital platform for the public to learn more about the project, take action, and contribute to marine conservation.

This infographic outlines our vision to rejuvenate the marine ecosystem sustainably. This involves managing expenses, maintenance, and monitoring. To achieve this, we have three pillars: a cost-effective 3D printing reef facility, a campaign to increase public awareness, and a digital platform to engage and educate the public.
reeform system consist of 3 basic unit connected by bolts and connector, with these three elements, we can create multiple shape base on our needs. We use calcium carbonate to make our unit because it is a natural component of coral reefs and provides a suitable material for creating a structure that mimics the properti
The main goal of this website is to connect the products and the public, to provide an engaging user journey. Our intention is to help people find more information about the project and 3d printing technology. This web platform encourages people to donate and keep an eye on further updates.
The goal of the campaign is to reveal the abundant artificial reef colony that is located underwater the oil platform. We utilize the advertising screens on gas pumps to showcase the rejuvenated artificial reef ecosystem to the public, to raise awareness and generate curiosity for reeform project.
The dimension of our target rigs is 75,000 square feet in area and 700 foot in depth. Our plan is to use 3D printed coral reefs to cover all subsea structures of the rig, which could provide 162000 square feet of habitat for marine life.
reeform units come with 3 different textures for each of the 3 target species which are : shallow water coral, strawberry anemone and rock fish because they are responsible for the health of local marine ecosystem.
Based on brand attributes, The logo form is inspired by recycle symbol and reeform 3d printing reefs. The combination of logo shape is as flexiable as reeform reefs. The color palate is inspired by the nature color of coral and oil and ocean. The font Massilia is a gometric sanserif which also embrace the orgainc features of handwriting, just as reeform reefs, the geometric forms with organic textures.
reeform brand graphic elements are applied in campaign posters and the interface of the website.
After successfully carrying out and executing the first phase of our plan, we will continue to develop more materials to meet the needs of a greater variety of species. We look forward to more people learning about and joining our project. We will embrace VR technology to provide an immersive experience for people to access exclusive information and the latest news about the Reefrom project. We will showcase our interim achievements to local communities and gather their feedback, with the aim of stimulating dialogue with the local population and encouraging more people to participate in and pay attention to this project. At the same time, we will prepare for the iteration of the communication strategy and product development for the second phase.
